Resist Embossed

Good afternoon! Today is a beautiful sunny day, after having rainy weather.
The radio therapy is going very well. Only last Monday after I was installed, the machine blocked and I had to wait ten minutes before a technician had fixed it - and I wasn't allowed to move a muscle either! I am also still having drainage massage for my right arm, which apparently is very important during the radio therapy especially to stop little pockets of fluid from forming which can harden and later can be very difficult to get rid of. My hair and eyelashes are growing too - I think my hair is about 1 cm now and it is black! Will have to wait and see how that will look in a couple of months time!

I wanted to share a little resist-embossed card today. I used the acrylic block technique after I had clear embossed the flower and leaves (Stampin' Up). I got this color by combining Aged Mahogany with Victorian Velvet distress inks.

The other day I was listening to Joyce Meyer and she was saying how she didn't know how to enjoy herself as she had always worked. Her husband enjoyed playing golf, watching the ball games etc. and she thought that by going on holiday she would find something she liked. She came to the conclusion that is was just the simple things that really relaxed her - like looking at God's creation, even if it was just a little bird in her garden. Enjoying pretty things and colors etc. I thought to myself, I have always enjoyed the simple little things, going on holiday often exhausts me, and just this week I found out that mushrooms grow in my garden - yes edible ones!! They are the wild sort of the Champignons de Paris that can be found in the shops and generally the wild ones have more taste too (and they are BIO!). I was so thrilled! When I come home from radio therapy, the first thing I do is go look if there are any new mushrooms in the garden, they are so nice in an omelet!
I took a picture of my little harvest the other day and funnily enough, this is what I enjoy!

  1. Jacqueline, it appears that new growth is all over the place. So good to hear! I love the white embossing against the pink here, but I'm sure that's no surprise:)

  2. Beautiful technique, Jacqueline - love the watercolor effect. Glad everything is going well (only a few little blips with the machine), and won't it be fun to have a new hair color! All the best. :)

  3. Love your card Jacqueline and I enjoy all your creations......they are heavenly.....we take so much for granted, dont we ?
    love and hugs

  4. I just love listening to Joyce Myers.. I have a daily devotional book of hers also. Lately my enjoyment is just to sit and watch my grandson. I don't think I ever just sat and watched my daughter when she was young. I think being older I know how fast this time will go by and I want to enjoy every minute of it!!

That is wonderful that you grew those mushrooms. They look great!!

And your card is so beautiful..

    Hugs, Linda

  5. What a great post today, Jacqueline! Yes, the tiny little things can bring us such joy. I too am made happy by the small everyday things of nature.....
So glad to hear that you are beginning to get back to a bit of normal and that your hair and eyelashes are coming back!
Love your pretty card today, too.
When will your radiation be finished?

  6. More people in the world need to stop and enjoy the little things - I try to remind myself of that everyday. Love the gorgeous colors on your card today, Jacqueline! So good to hear the therapy is going well. Often times, after losing hair from Chemo, it grows back a different color. You'd be beautiful no matter what color your hair is! Sending hugs - as always - :)

  7. I like the simple things too..small pleasures..a smile..a kind
    love your card today..

  8. Glad your treatment is still going well! (My dear friend from college just had her 25th chemo treatment for tumors on her liver.) So you listen to Joyce Meyer, too? I really enjoy her. I like your idea of enjoyment of the little things.

  9. So glad all is going ok ... shame about the machine blocking though ... staying still is not easy!
I love your card ... gorgeous colours ... and I think that we should all take time not just to look in awe at God's creation but to remember that we are part of it and connect with it ... the simple delights are the best and wow! mushrooms in your garden ... I wouldn't be able to tell which is edible and which isn't! But I bet your taste wonderful!

  10. Gorgeous card Jacqueline, sdo good to hear things are going well for you. Its good that your hair is growing back. Love your harvest of mushrooms like Ros I would be unable to tell which are edible and which are poisonous!!

  11. I love those two colours together Jacqueline! What a really pretty card! I am thrilled that everything is going relatively well with your treatment! Hair! Yippee! Just keep enjoying the small things and relaxing!

  12. Dear Jacqueline,

when i will sing "Messiah " from Händel next week, i will sing this in my thoughts especially for you too!!!
So nice that you enjoy these little surprises and goods of every day. that´s what i do too.
when i go out for a little walk in the morning and see the misty surface of the lake and the birds and ducks waking up..i have to smile and can forget all difficulties..
May God hold you in His hand, evry day and in all circumstances!!!

  14. Beautiful the colors.
Glad you are feeling better...I love the shot of these mushrooms. Could I paint this foto...of course I would give you credit for the foto if you allow me to use it. Take care,,,

  16. good morning Jacqueline,
What a beautiful lady you are, I just wanted to stop by to say that you are in my thoughts and I hope that everything is going well for you.
You are such an inspiration to me, I'm not talking about your creative level (that too of course :) - rather I feel your strength in God, your patience, your tolerance and your trust. God bless you Jacqueline, I hope your day is good one. Stay strong lovely lady, you're in all our prayers.

  17. Love the earthy colour and texture Jacqueline! Gorgeous card! I love wild mushrooms! Your photo could be framed! My two brothers often go mushroom hunting in the forest around where we live. My older brother told me that there are poisonous mushrooms that can look almost identical to some of the edible ones so you have to be so very careful. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you! Sending a hug, Susanne

  18. fabulous card Jacqueline. I am glad that you are feeling better despite the radiotherapy. continue to improve.

  19. I'm glad to hear that your treatment is going ok and that your hair has started growing again, black hair, watch out, people might mistake you for a Spanish lady in France :-) Love your card, that resist technique is amazing! Blessings, Ira

  20. I love your card and I'm glad things are going so well for you. The mushrooms look yummy and I love mushrooms, but have to buy them from the market because I don't know how to choose the right ones. A mushroom omelet is one of my favorite omelets! Yum! Thanks for sharing!

  21. Really pretty - love that hint of a rustic look in the colors! Simple things in life are certainly the best! So thankful for them! Enjoy your weekend!

  22. Great to hear that the radio therapy is going well and that your hair is growing back (even if it is black) . I love the resist method and your card looks great. I think I'll go try this today. Funny how we forget about techniques until we get reminded of them again.

  23. Beautiful card! Love the resist with the distress inks. Your mushroom harvest is lovely!

Thanks so much for your visit - I so appreciate it!
