Tuesday Trigger - Chiclectic

When I first saw the photo for this week's Tuesday Trigger, I thought no way am I going to be able to make a card.. such bold colors. But yesterday, it just came together.

This is the inspiration picture. And underneath is my card.

I used a wine label (may they live long) as it already had gold incorporated in it. The stamp is from Hero Arts called Floating Garden which I distressed and sprayed with water before I stamped direct onto the label. The background (black to match the bedspread) is also a Hero Arts Stamp, a friends definition. My thanks to the lovely Tiffany who sent me a bunch of Cameos a while back!

Now I have a KITCHEN TIP:

When using old bread to make breadcrumbs in the Food Processor for a meal, add oil and herbs to give them more flavor. These are delicious on top of a Fish dish. Source: Jamie Oliver.

Shells, frames and vintage

I have a couple of vintage shares together, both of them using frames.

I rediscovered a Penny Black stamp I had and just used the frame for the image. First I decorated it with shells (from a Hero Arts stamp) which I still had, cut out and waiting for use still from my holiday in Spain. I used to get up early every morning and wait until late before DH and the boys got up - so after my prayer time I started stamping butterflies and shells and cutting them out for later use. Now it is 7 months later and I am still using the shells.

These background papers are from the Graphic's Fairy. I colored in the little flowers with watercolor pencils.
Still nursing a sick David, he is very poorly this time round.

Blog hop Hero Arts

I'm joining in on the very first Hero Arts Flickr Group Blog Hop today with this card which has been stamped with one of my favorite HA stamps and that is the Hydrangea. The butterfly is another favorite from the Antique Engravings Clear Set which has been 'iced' with a sparkly clear embossing powder to make it shine. I also LOVE the Hero Hues mixed gems and pearls, which I use all the time.

Beneath I have captured the shine on the butterfly.

French Post Stamp from Hero Arts

I wanted to share a new stamp today which I really love. It's called the French Post stamp and it's from Hero Arts.

(The top one is the stamp and the bottom one is another French Post stamp I found, only it's not an official 'stamp').

I cut a piece of Webster's paper (thanks again Sue!) into a diecut shape, stamped, added the butterfly and the card was ready in no time. Note for Katie Scarlet - the butterfly is from the Antique Engravings Clear Stamp Set CL383 from Hero Arts. Notice the fountain on the paper and the next photo:

(As you can see, the fountain here is typical of the fountains found in lots of little French villages, also in ours.)

This is made with distress inks.

Did you know that God takes you very seriously? To give you an example.. after the holidays I felt a little bit isolated living in a secluded area, next to a dentist that was shut for the holidays and well, having seen tons of people every day to seeing hardly a living soul - I really felt it. So I thought - who better to talk to about this than to a loving Heavenly Father? So I did... later on in the day as I was crafting, the phone went. A cousin of DH called to say that he and his family were on holiday about an hour's drive from where we live and they wanted to come round and see us. Well, I thought, hmmm that prayer was answered very quickly. So I said, I'll put you through to René. A little later a radiant René pops his head around the door and says that his cousin and family will be arriving tomorrow and staying the night - you know they have four girls don't you?!! OK God, I didn't say I wanted to cater for a whole family of six for two days during my holiday.....

I don't know about you but immediately I felt the Lord's Hand - yes, it does mean that I should show hospitality, kindness and love to people - I gave my day to God in full surrender to His Plans - I don't have the right to let my 'flesh' choose and pick how my day looks like! Thank You Lord for giving us another opportunity to witness of your Love for everybody that crosses our paths.

Just sharing

I read something this morning that really blessed me and I wanted to share during the Easter period.

A gem dealer was strolling through the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show when he noticed a blue-violet stone the size of a potato. Surprised, he said to the seller, 'You want fifteen dollars for this?' The seller, thinking the rock wasn't as pretty as others in the bin, sold it to him for ten dollars. That ugly stone was later certified as a 1,905-carat natural star sapphire, appraised at 2.8 million dollars. It took a lover of stones to recognize its worth. And it took the lover of souls to recognize your worth. Do you realize how much God loves you? If not, look at the cross. Perhaps you're disappointed because you've asked God for something and He didn't do what you thought He should have done. Before you feel unloved, take a moment and look back. Hasn't He blessed you and held you steady through rough places? It's been a long ride, but He's still holding you, right? Don't act as if your heavenly Father doesn't love you because He doesn't always cater to you.

Our society has spent so much time criticizing differences that it fails to see God in diversity. Because you're different, doesn't mean you're 'less than' - just different! If God hadn't made you as He did, you wouldn't have been able to persevere as you have. You're uniquely equipped to be a blessing to those around you. Remember, people are blessed because you're sincere and available - not perfect. So next time you feel worthless, stop and remind yourself, 'God loves and values me!'

I hope it will bless you as it blessed me. That we are not in a performance treadmill but in a loving relationship with our Heavenly Father!

Just a little share today, a Mother's Day card for my MIL. I don't have my mum around anymore, but I'm very happy to have a wonderful Mother-in-Law who is so kind. I don't have any Happy Mother Day stamps but I think 'Thank you' speaks louder!



I used a sheet from the Mariposa papers for the background panel. Love them. The rose and bird is a new set from Hero Arts. A friend I met on the Internet, called Dee Collins sent me a little Hero Arts stamp set of four definition stamps. I used one of them on the above card, the 'happy' stamp. Thank you Dee so very much!!

Paris Rose

I got the most overwhelming surprise today - in a package from Pia, Denmark. I found a beautiful card and this amazing vintage stamp from Hero Arts called Paris Rose - isn't it a beautiful stamp!



Of course I had to ink it up as soon as I could and make a card. I did the rose 3D after painting it with distress inks. I think this stamp is going to prove very versatile!
